I've got 99 problems but unemployment ain't one....

Any chance to work old school Jay-Z into my blog is worth the effort :)

The question posed today by the Washington Post is a valid one -- Are Unemployment Benefits No Longer Temporary?

"About 11.4 million out-of-work people now collect unemployment compensation, at a cost of $10 billion a month. Half of them have been receiving payments for more than six months, the usual insurance limit. But under multiple extensions enacted by the federal government in response to the downturn, workers can collect the payments for as long as 99 weeks in states with the highest unemployment rates -- the longest period since the program's inception."

Weird news of the day....

1) Opticians mix up a young girl's glass prescription. She's left with headaches and nausea for 2 years. Optician apologizes and offers $5 bottle of lens cleaner for her troubles. Yeah, that ought to make everything fine.

Store director Raj Shah said: "We take customer care extremely seriously." Sometimes the comedy writes itself...

2) Buy beer from legally licensed distributor, pay necessary taxes, watch State Police seize your beer because no one had registered the precise name of the beers with the Liquor Control Board.

"She estimated the total value of the confiscated stock at $7,200, representing about 20 brands, some of which go by multiple names.

For instance, the cops grabbed Monk's Cafe Sour Flemish Red Ale.

The beer has been sold throughout the state at dozens of restaurants and distributors for the last seven years. The brand appears on the state's online list as "Monk's Café Ale."

As the Guinness ads say "Brilliant!".

Cheers!
